Under 21 hurling championship - 2016-09-18 19:59:00

The under 21 hurlers lined out against St. Mary's in the second round championship game at Ardfield on Saturday evening, 17th September.
Overall this a well contested encounter, even though a slow start saw us concede a goal and six points in the opening thirteen minutes. Things changed during the second quarter and, with a goal from Padraig Galvin the major score during that period, we trailed by only two points at half time 1-6 to 1-4.
St. Mary's increased their lead again with three points early in the second half and then scored a second goal but two goals in reply, the first by Kevin Dullea and the second, a brilliant effort from Conor O'Donovan, left just two points in it again, 2-9 to 3-4.
Further points came from Owen O'Sullivan and Kevin O'Connell and it was all square with the approach of the final quarter. However it was St. Mary's who stepped up their game again going into the final period. They scored a third goal and added five points to go seven ahead.
Randals finished strongly, scoring four  points in the closing minutes, but time ran out and it was
St. Mary's  3-14  Randal Og 3-11 at the final whistle.
