Junior hurling championship semi-final win - 2018-09-11 17:16:00

Randals and Kilbrittain met in the semi-final of the  junior B hurling championship at Enniskeane on Sunday morning, 9th September.

Played in ideal conditions, it was a well contested game overall although Randals held the advantage on the scoreboard for most of the hour.

Sam Kingston got the opening score, a point inside the first minute. Kilbrittain got the equaliser in the sixth minute, but shortly after they conceded a sixty five which Gerard Lynch sent over. This gave Randals a lead which was never lost.

Eoin O'Sullivan added another point and Kilbrittain got one back from a free. It was 0-3 to 0-2 at the end of the first quarter.

Gerard Lynch's accuracy came into play again with two more points from frees. Patrick Crowley increased the lead further on twenty two minutes. Kilbrittain got the next two points, again from frees.

With only two points between the sides, the first of the decisive goals came shortly before half time,  Shane Patterson broke through to send in a blistering shot, which took a deflection but ended up in the net and it was 1-6 to 0-4 at the break.

The first score of the second half went to Kilbrittain, but Sam Kingston, Gerard Lynch and Patrick Crowley got the next three.

Kilbrittain replied with two more. Seadhna Crowley got Randals' tenth point towards the end of the third quarter. Shortly after, Kilbrittain had an opportunity to cancel out Shane Patterson's goal, when they got a penalty but a brilliant and crucial save by Patrick Lynch denied them.

They got a point from the resultant sixty five.

There were four goals scored in the last quarter. Gavin Hunt got the first of these before Gerard Lynch pointed another free. Patrick Crowley got the next one. Kilbrittain got through for three points during this period but Sam Kingston put the issue beyond doubt when he scored Randals' fourth goal with a little over five minutes left in the game.

A determined rally by Kilbrittain yielded a goal and two points in the closing stages, but It was : Randal Og  4-11 Kilbrittain 1-14, at the final whistle.
