West Cork hurling final - 2018-09-19 18:36:00

The hurlers lost out to O'Donovan Rossa in the Carbery junior B hurling final at Dunmanway on Saturday evening, 15th September. It was a disappointing ending to what has been a great season, well not quite an ending yet, but after a good opening ten minutes, things did not go well and this was despite  a great fight back early in the second half.

The weather too contributed to the overall scenario, as a heavy drizzly rain, which started shortly before the throw in, continued intermittently right through the game.

Sam Kingston sent over the first score in the fourth minute. Seadhna Crowley got another in the tenth minute. Scores were hard to come by, but  the first Skibb goal came shortly after and they stretched their lead with a point on the quarter hour mark.

They scored again in the sixteenth minute.

Coming up to half time, Conor O'Donovan got a point and Seadhna Crowley added another.  It was 1-2 to 0-4 at the break.

Skibbereen got their third point in the opening minutes of the second half, but Randals rallied well and Stephen Crowley and, from a free, Gerard Lynch made it all square  - 0-6 to 1-3.

But that was as good as it got.

Skibb got their second goal in the thirty sixth minute and they added two points to go five ahead.

Gerard Lynch scored again from a free, but goal number three made it - 3-5 to 0-7, going into final quarter.  Skibbereen added on four points during that period and with Gerard Lynch again on target, to get one back, it finished  - O'Donovan Rossa  3-9  Randal Og  0-8.
