Junior football championship - Randals v Goleen - 2019-06-21 18:19:00

The second round of the Carbery junior B football championship, Roundrobin, saw Randals meet Goleen at Church Cross on Saturday evening last.

It was a close, but low scoring game, with score for score right through and no more than two points between the sides at any stage and nothing between them at the end.

Barry O'Driscoll opened the scoring with a great point after two minutes. Goleen got the equaliser after five minutes before a  great save by Denis Lynch deprived them of a goal. Goleen went into a two point lead, Conor O'Neill, from a free, and Sam Kingston made it level again at the end of the first quarter.

There was only score over the next fifteen minutes and it was Goleen leading by 0-4 to 0-3 at half time.

Four points from frees were exchanged in the opening minutes of the second half with two from Goleen and two sent over by Conor O'Neill.

Eleven minutes gone and Cathal Duggan, gaining from a rebound off the post, slotted home the only goal of the the game.

With almost twenty minutes to go, it was 1-5 to 0-6.

There were only two more points scored, both by Goleen,  in the remaining period.

Despite all out efforts on both sides to get a winner it did not come and it was:  Randal Og   1-5  Goleen  0-8  at full time.
